Huge rocks in rough grading for new construction Location: Central Pennsylvania We have a new house build and they are leveling a yard area. They stripped and made a pile of topsoil. Now they are leveling using clean fill from digging out the basement. Once done, they will put topsoil back on. My worry is that we have very rocky soil. There are rocks at the top of the rough grading that are the size of your foot or larger. It seems like grass would grow poorly in only a couple inches of topsoil with rocks that large right below. I've heard of some sort of grinder for the top foot of rocks in the rough grading? Or a machine that will screen them out? Any thoughts? First time growing tomatoes (San marzano) should I pick this one now, or wait a day? I can still see a hint of green and this is the ONLY red tomato out of 20+ tomatoes on the plant. Should I tie it, to keep it tidy My little Johnny is timidly thriving but it's the third leaf I break (fortunately it's always been the older and external one). (Yes, I bandaged the leaf to make it last longer so it can get the sunlight as much as that lil old leaf still can. I'll chop that when it's visibly incapable to communcate anymore. And it works. Old leaf didn't die as fast as usual.) Did some trial and error in this year with it, but I think we got a pace now. A problem still remains. My room is small and long leaves take a lot of space. I don't mind sharing my space with this cute roomie, but I think bumping into it every day is a bit too much to take (for it). So do I tie it, yes or "it doesn't have that type of enjoyment"? how can i help my kalanchoe? hello! i’ve had this beautiful lady for about 6 months. she was with my through losing my sister, my moms cancer battle and devastating passing, and a stressful move. when she arrived to my new home, i had a pest infestation on my other plants, and i went to TOWN on my plants. i used an organic essential oil pesticide, as well as capt jacks super soap, and bonide granules. for some reason, i didn’t research how it would affect my kalanchoe or her blooms (rookie mistake, but ive definitely learned and now have the privilege of reaping what i have sown) and i noticed a few days later, all of her blooms dried up and died:( her leaves began yellowing and curling at the edges. this girl has survived EVERYTHING with me (she was given as a gift when i had a black thumb, with no light and basically mud for soil) and im not sure how to save her:( i cut a few cuttings to put into soil to attempt to have some baby plants of her. right now she is in a mix of regular potting soil (they didn’t have cactus / succulent anywhere, i’ll definitely keep looking though) and perlite, 50/50. i recently watered her (when her soil was totally dry) and she gets lots of sunlight (she’s been accumulated), im not sure if shes been getting 12-14 hours of darkness due to my grow light setup, but ill definitely make sure she gets that as well. any advice is so appreciated! how can i save this girl? is she a goner? i’m okay with her being a little ugly and wilty for a while, my fault after all, but i just want to know she’s gonna be okay. she was putting out 2-5 blooms a day before this😔 thank you in advance kind internet strangers! cucumbers caught up planted the tomatoes months before the cucumbers but harvesting cucumbers before the tomatoes lol. the 2 yellow ones I picked a few days ago and they continued to ripen.. hope they are OK. these cucumber plants are so cool! no pests, disease or pruning? sign me up! however getting them from seed to ground is a lot of work.. I lost a lot of seedlings during transplant probably 70% of the original cells and 1 of the 5 varieties I started with didn't make it.. rip lemons 😭 I heard they were really seedy anyway..
