• It’s my first time gardening

It’s my first time gardening and I wanted to plant some vegetables (might be late for the season) but still going to try. I dug out my flower bed that was filled with weeds.

Before I start planting, I just want to know, do I need to put more loom, raised bed mix, or compost before I begin?

  • Starting from the beginning

    Hi all!

My front yard had a lot of weeds: white clovers, dandelions, all the other things other than grass.
I first used vinegar, salt and soap mix to kill everything, then a couple of weed killers. This is how it looks now. Still there are some white clovers and dandelions left.

1- should I kill the remaining weeds before the following steps?

    2- bring new soil
    3- level the soil
    4- add seed and fertilizer

Do you think I will still have the weeds? Location is Burlington Canada. I might be quite late to start the process but just found time.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

  • What’s the best way to clean a mulch land with lots of mulch on the ground

We cleared/mulch our land but looks like it wasn’t mulch to fine pieces. How can we clean this?

  • Zone 7B Store bought garlic help

So I was curious about planting store bought garlic (soft neck) cloves. Did a little research and wanted to see what I could get. Planted cloves about 3 months ago. They sprouted and grew quickly. But now the leaves are turning and bending over. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t that supposedly when it’s time to harvest and store? Here is a picture of one I pulled because I was curious. It’s just a clove-less bulb. Can I dry these and save them to plant in fall? Or are they just stunted because I planted in spring?

Any advice is welcome as I’m a first time gardener and taking this year to learn a bit from trial and error. Thanks in advance!
