• First Time Lawn Owner

Lived in apartments, owned a condo and now have this small backyard and similar small front yard to dote over in the Chicago area. For the last two summers, it was comical to watch me learn how to mow/trim/blow because the entire yard was a bumpy rollercoaster of patchy weeds and squirrel peanut holes. Broke down early this spring and got the lawn leveled and sodded. Been mowing at 4” once a week and noticed weeds aren’t coming back as strong (pull from the root maybe 2 or 3 a week total). I’m assuming weeds can’t grow as well when the grass is already thick. For a total newb, I feel really good about this lawn now: like I can actually care for it and take pride in it.

  • Is there any hope of saving my string of pearls?!? Can anyone offer advice on how to save it? Thank you!

I absolutely love sting of pearls but keep having terrible luck keeping them alive. I live in a very dry warm climate and water it every few days. It gets bright indirect light daily.

  • Wasn't really sure what flair was appropriate. But will spring tails be able to eat what I assume is mold on that branch?

  • My private slice of heaven

Anyone else just count the minutes until the workday is over so you can be in the garden? Not even necessarily gardening. I sometimes just walk from bed to bed and lovingly pet my plants.

  • Turning My Outdoor Soil Space Into a Summer Spot with a Pool need Ideas!

    Hey everyone!
I have an outdoor space next to my house that’s currently just soil, nothing built on it yet. I’ve bought a pool and turn it into a nice summer hangout spot, but I’m not sure where to start or what to consider.

I’d love your ideas and suggestions on:
    • What kind of flooring or ground prep I should do first
    • Budget-friendly vs premium options
    • Landscaping ideas to make it cozy and stylish
    • Any must-haves for a functional and fun summer space

Basically, how do I make the most out of this raw outdoor area? Appreciate any advice, inspiration pics, or even things you wish you had done in your own setup!

    Thanks in advance!

  • Monstera albo cutting on marketplace. Should i buy it?

Found on marketplace for $10. My first time trying to get an albo. Can someone also read the variegation on the stem to help identify if this will have good variegation?

Comes in a water propagation jar. I have really good 12ft high northeast and a northwest windows that get 6-8 hrs of sun in the summer. Any and all advice would be amazing.
