First Time Lawn Owner Lived in apartments, owned a condo and now have this small backyard and similar small front yard to dote over in the Chicago area. For the last two summers, it was comical to watch me learn how to mow/trim/blow because the entire yard was a bumpy rollercoaster of patchy weeds and squirrel peanut holes. Broke down early this spring and got the lawn leveled and sodded. Been mowing at 4” once a week and noticed weeds aren’t coming back as strong (pull from the root maybe 2 or 3 a week total). I’m assuming weeds can’t grow as well when the grass is already thick. For a total newb, I feel really good about this lawn now: like I can actually care for it and take pride in it.
