• Tips for growing grass

The back 8-10 feet of our yard is overrun with weeds and honeysuckle (and now poisonous something) and our yard backs up to the woods.

Has anyone has success turning an area like this into grass? My husband rips out the honeysuckle by the root to try and prevent it from coming back but to no avail it grows right back :/

Tips for turning this into grass?
My husband is planning on finishing pulling up all the honeysuckle, renting a rototiller to prepare the ground, then throwing grass seed.
Will this work or would we be wasting our time?
This area does not get a lot of sunlight because of the large trees above.

  • Mowing high, dry and often in Zone 7a

I finally got a zero turn mower this year to tame my formerly beastly lawn. 4” cut mostly. The yard was overgrown for years. I’ll be overseeding for the first time with a tall fescue in September. Every year something weird, like a mullein plant or a Joe Pye weed will sprout up in the spring, and I’ll mow around it and let it grow. It’s a random collection of misfits, but it’s my own little slice of paradise.

  • Do I need more patience?

Oklahoma here.... first raised bed ...

my cucumbers that I thought would be small because I got the bush ones have grown big enough that soon they will develop sentience and take over my yard, my life, my checking account and start wearing my clothes. Yet the dang thing has made only 3 cucumbers so far. there are 50 some odd in various stages of growth.

my squash and zucchini seem to be thriving except they need a lesson in sex ed....shy little things haven't learned that it takes two to tango and are taking turns at producing male flowers, then female flowers, then male flowers again. not at the same time though. it's a bad rom-com.

my eggplant is making beautiful flowers but can't be bothered to make things that can be eaten. at this point she's about as helpful as my fine art degree.

all that aside, I have a pretty big variety of edible things growing but haven't yet had like a proper harvest other than a handful of grape tomatoes, a couple of cucumbers and some pepperocini.

do I just need to wait longer? break out some crossword puzzles and meditation to bide my time? is it my growing zone?

  • Help needed

I recently saw this displayed at the Gardener's world live show(UK).
How could I achieve something like this at home?
I'm thinking chicken wire & Hessian frame, with sempervivums growing through.
The display didn't seem to have any soil/medium in it.
Is it possible to grow sempervivums without soil?
