  • Found in Costa Rica

During my honeymoon via the Sensoria hiking tour. Found a small four inch long football shaped pod that was brown with striations on the ground. Brought it home and over time it exploded(looks like the outer casing had peeled back like a banana) and seeds were all around. Seeds looked like the type that would spiral and spin in the air as they fell down. Planted one and this is the result.

  • Who did it??

Who ate my tomato, and how do i stop it or prevent it from happening to all my others. First year with a vegetable garden and trying to learn as much as i can. But this is a new step for me. Just happy I gave the pests something to eat. It means I’ve done right so far. But yeah who did it? How do i stop them? Thanks everyone

  • Guess the spreader! New house, new yard. 6b

Guess which spreader got put out for trash this week? Served me well for 5 years at my old house, but the RB60 comes tomorrow. Grass Totally neglected for 24 years. Impatient me tried to load up the ol Scott’s mini and put down some left overs from last year. Bad idea.

Got a bit of a late start this year as we were focused on all the flowerbeds and landscaping this spring but So far soil test complete, we’re deficient in pretty much every aspect. First round of amendments and new spreader comes tomorrow. Been spot treating weeds with Triad, and mowing high.

Not expecting perfection this year, trying to get the soil right and the weeds out as my main goals. I’ll have it aerated in the fall and overseed. Also have some fellow lawn nerd neighbors to keep me motivated! Learned a lot in the past few years here and enjoyed doing my last lawn, this one’s about quadruple the size though!

  • Glorious Scottish summer - does anyone have any tips for keeping on top of your grass in this climate?

This is something I struggle with every summer.

A lot of the time we get continuous days of rain for weeks at a time. We’ve had rain every day for the past 2 weeks and this is the 10 day forecast.

The problem is that whenever I try and keep on top of the grass length in this weather, I just end up clogging the mower and the grass can be choked by wet grass that escapes my attempts to clear up and ends up as thatch.

The temp combined with the rain also means the grass can grow furiously during this time.

Anyone have any tips on how to best handle it?

  • New England, USA. My spring onion, cucumber, and basil are turning yellow!

New Enland, USA. 's been fairly rainy. Planted them at the beginning of May. We were watering them daily, until it started raining about 70% of the days a few weeks ago and haven't been watering them since. They get >6 hrs of direct sunlight. There is a small hole for drainage in the middle of the bottom of the planter. First time trying to plant something so im sorrh if im missing something obvious.
