  • Cantaloupe oozing brown sap?

Hey guys! I have some mini cantaloupes planted and I noticed a few of them are oozing this brown sap. I’ve grown these before and have never seen this before. Anyone have any idea what’s going on?

  • Bird of paradise - HELP

    Hi everyone,
I was gifted a bird of paradise with a single leaf, had a lot of root rot and mealy bugs on it. As I was cleaning it I snapped the stem!

I cleaned the roots, trimmed and added root powder on the ends. Everything looks good there… but obviously the main concern is whether or not it’s even going to grow anything anymore. Any chance of it surviving??!?

The soil is new, freshly watered and isolated from all my other plants in case it’s still has some mealybugs. I have it near a west facing window which gets good sunlight by the afternoon.

  • Recent rains have turned our path into a river

Recently we’ve been getting a “once every 100 years flood” every weekend. I jest, but it’s been bad. We’ve had this gravel path for 10 years, but suddenly this keeps happening.

Since the wash out is so bad, I’m curious if digging a little further and laying corrugated pipe would at least give the water a place to go.

    Any other suggestions?

  • Should I prune the tops or is it too late?

I have this early girl plant that is, by many accounts, doing quite well in San Diego. We gets lots of sun, I’ve kept a good strict watering schedule coupled with regular fertilizer. I haven’t really clipped as I should I don’t think and it has got quite leggy. Should I be pruning the top at this stage to promote some bushier branching or is it too late? I’m reticent to as there’s some flowers at the top but can I assume as this is non-determinate and we’ll be having good sun for a long time yet, that clipping the top should get me a better crop in the long run?

    Thank you for any tips!
