• Mexican marigold bush

What does she need? I have drainage at the bottom, mostly sun for the last 6 days when I bought it. Watering day of, two days rain storms, and watered today. She will be planted in ground tomorrow in full sun.

  • What is this?

Just noticed that my ficus tineke has this little mushroom-like thing growing in the soil. Anyone know what this is and why it just started growing all of a sudden? I’ve had this plant for over a year and this just popped up in the last week or so.

It is solely indoor and in a south-facing window. I water it once a week and always allow it to drain well.

  • Added a moss pole to my monstera!

Finally got around to re -tying my monstera. She was getting out of hand, growing outward in all directions but I think I’m happy with the finished product! Hopefully she likes it too :)

  • Is there a “zero clearance” edger that I can take right against my CMU wall? Manual tools preferred. Los Angeles area

I have an electric “weed wacker” that I don’t like using. Yard is small and I like using manual tools. Two sides of my yard are lined with a CMU brick wall and the grass gets tall there.

I’m very new to grass / lawn maintenance but I’m enjoying it. Open to advice. Removed turf and planted St. Augustine SOD. I mow the lawn with reel mower once a week and do the edges every 2-4 weeks.

    Los Angeles area.

  • Backyard is all weeds, best method to turn it into a lawn?

Finally tackling the weed infestation my backyard has had since I moved in a few years ago. I’ve been reading a lot of different methods on how to go about fixing my “lawn” and am having a hard time figuring out what’s best. After adding a brick border to define the area, I’m tentatively planning on covering the section with cardboard, layering with topsoil and then planting sod. Is this a good method? I would ideally like to avoid chemicals since I have free ranging chickens. Also a note is this is mostly bindweed, which is a huge pain. I also have a rototiller but I’m not sure if that would make the problem worse or if it could be effective when covering with cardboard after. I’m open to any alternate suggestions.
