Backyard is all weeds, best method to turn it into a lawn? Finally tackling the weed infestation my backyard has had since I moved in a few years ago. I’ve been reading a lot of different methods on how to go about fixing my “lawn” and am having a hard time figuring out what’s best. After adding a brick border to define the area, I’m tentatively planning on covering the section with cardboard, layering with topsoil and then planting sod. Is this a good method? I would ideally like to avoid chemicals since I have free ranging chickens. Also a note is this is mostly bindweed, which is a huge pain. I also have a rototiller but I’m not sure if that would make the problem worse or if it could be effective when covering with cardboard after. I’m open to any alternate suggestions.
