• Growing Flowers ≠ Growing Fingernails

I love gardening without gloves. But now my nails are in the worst shape of their life! I have dirt so deep in spots I can't get it out and they are so short I cannot file them smooth. Anyone else?
    I have to fix this.

  • Monstera help!

I don’t know why she’s so sad, she’s in both direct/indirect sunlight most of the day and fed once a week.

  • Agave sprouting pups, advice/help needed

Only bought this a few weeks back and I spotted little ones emerging from the gravel a few days ago underneath one of the leaves.

I don't have much experience with agave so when is it best to remove them and how? Currently they are very small as you can see.

Any tips or advice at all is appreciated really.

  • SOS. how do I deal with this area?

Bought the house not too long ago. Area was filled with bushy grass and daffodils. Snakes loved it in there. Now we’re left with this mess. So many rocks and clay soil. Zone 7b. Receives drainage from gutters and goes downhill. No idea what to do with it. Would ideally like something aesthetically pleasing, like flowers, rock bed (I know, not ideal), or some kind of shrubs? Just worried about it becoming overly crowded/ugly.

  • what’s a plant you think is underrated?

this moon valley pilea was a $3 impulse purchase at the grocery store and i’m obsessed with her! recently it’s been my favorite, the leaves feel so cool and any tropical plant that’s pet safe is a win to me.
I don’t see people talk about them as often as they do chinese money plants and I think they’re so much cooler
I’m curious what other plants people think don’t get talked about enough!

  • Advice: weed control in garden bed

About 4 weeks ago I completely redesigned our front garden. Now I have incredibly invasive weeds. I can’t keep up with them via hand pulling. I realize I should get some mulch down, but as part of this process I removed about a 6” layer of mulch and the weeds were just growing in the mulch on top of the dirt. I’m in US NC, zone 8.

I’d like a solution that won’t harm the desirable plants as well.

What are these weeds and what’s the best way to get them under control?

Like the title says, I found this guy outside my new house. Is he a goner or can I get him to recover?
