Help identifying a seed pod I found in western Madagascar
Hi all! šš¼
I recently returned from a trip to Madagascar and found a curious seed pod that I canāt seem to identify. Iāve searched through various resources (including databases and guides on Madagascan flora), but nothing quite matches.
Hereās what I can tell you about it:
⢠Found in western Madagascar, near dry deciduous forest habitat.
⢠The full structure is about 7 cm long and 2.5 cm wide.
⢠Itās rectangular and flat, with thin, papery āwingsā and a central rounded pod ā likely where the actual seed is housed.
⢠It reminds me of a samara (like those from maple trees), but the shape is quite different ā much more elongated and rectangular.
Iāve attached a photo for reference. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Even a genus or family would be a great start. Thanks in advance
