Help identifying a seed pod I found in western Madagascar
Hi all! đđŒ
I recently returned from a trip to Madagascar and found a curious seed pod that I canât seem to identify. Iâve searched through various resources (including databases and guides on Madagascan flora), but nothing quite matches.
Hereâs what I can tell you about it:
âą Found in western Madagascar, near dry deciduous forest habitat.
âą The full structure is about 7 cm long and 2.5 cm wide.
âą Itâs rectangular and flat, with thin, papery âwingsâ and a central rounded pod â likely where the actual seed is housed.
âą It reminds me of a samara (like those from maple trees), but the shape is quite different â much more elongated and rectangular.
Iâve attached a photo for reference. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Even a genus or family would be a great start. Thanks in advance
