  • Garlic didn't get enough cold days

I planted garlic in a tote indoors in November and forgot to put it outside in time to get the necessary several weeks of sub-40F temps. It only got down to about 45F for a week. I pulled one today and it did not generate a bulb.

My question is whether this is hopeless at this point and only useful for the scapes, or if given more time will a bulb end up developing?

If it won't develop a bulb now, might I be able to keep these alive until next winter or should I just compost them at this point?

  • Will my Spider plant survive the toddler hands?

Hi! I was wondering if this is worth trying to save or just chunk… my toddler got ahold of it. I think he was trying to move it and accidentally dropped it on our rug.

I water weekly or every other week, honestly at this stage of life. The pot does have drainage and is normally by a window.

  • Nertera granadensis, aka coral bead plant. Anyone have experience caring for one?

Saw this while walking past a flower shop and had to pick one up. From what I’ve read online, they’re difficult to care for!

  • Appreciate the advice!

A few months ago I posted about what I should do with a bunch of pavers. Well a few weeks back I took your recommendations and finished my first DIY patio. Think it turned out okay and appreciate all your help.

  • Nyssa sylvatica fruit in June?

Arkansas tupelo/cypress river. Early June, I kayaked miles of tupelos and didn’t notice fruits and then I saw this tree, which I thought was a tupelo, loaded with fruits. They seemed pretty close to ripe and definitely not from last year.

    Questions:

    1. Is the pictured fruit bearing tree a black tupelo?

    2. Why would it be fruiting so early? Unlike the many others around.

  • I have an idea for this tree stump. Is it a terrible one? Zone 7a.

We just had an old, long dead maple finally cut down in our backyard. Frankly, we couldn’t afford to grind the stump out so here I am.

    I have an idea!

I would like to put a large ~30inch terracotta pot (because I already have one lol) on top with a hardy, flowering, perennial shrub (I’m thinking rhododendron?). I thought I could break out the bottom of the pot and put some large bore holes in the tree stump to allow the shrub’s roots to infiltrate the ground as the stump breaks down.

Is this feasible? (If so I’m welcome to recommendations for plants that would be suitable).

Either way, next year I’m going to make a flower bed around the stump, so worst case scenario I’ll put a bird bath or feeder on top of it.
