• Patio drainage / play sand suggestions?

Hi! My very old brick patio is in rough shape. Eventually, we’ll have someone completely redo the patio and walkway. In the meantime, I’m trying to make it feel a little cleaner and more pleasant. I spent some time (ok, a lot of time) this past weekend removing weeds, moss, and muck from the pavers. I think our drainage issues are causing a lot of the muck/moss. Basically water pools in a few places on the patio near the garden and the actual garden area closest to the patio becomes a swamp when it rains or I use the hose (yellow highlighted area in pic is where water pools). I have zero little experience but I’m thinking about digging a trench and putting in a perforated drain pipe with fabric and rocks. I’m wondering if one pipe will solve the problem or if I also need some sort of catch basin or something all around the garden edge to collect water and direct it toward the drain pipe. Would greatly appreciate any advice!

My second question is about filling in the space between the pavers with sand. I’ve worked pretty damn hard to clean these babies but I’m not quite ready to put down polymeric sand. I think I’d rather do that across the whole patio in one go but I’m still de-weeding / de-mucking parts of the patio. In the meantime, I was thinking about filling the parts that are already clean with playground sand (saw someone do that in a video). Is that dumb? I’m worried it could be hard to get the play sand out later and then the polymeric sand won’t work as well. Would appreciate any suggestions on this issue!

  • Mr Richard Variegata

Hello everyone. I wanted to share my Mr. Richard Variegata. It's one of my favorites, which I also grow at home with lights. Currently, I have the Barrina T8 2 on each shelf plus 1 light bar with white, red, and blue light. A total of 3 light bars per shelf. And about 8000 lumens, 14 hours of light. My substrate consists of 70% minerals. I water once a month.

This plant arrived with a super intense and beautiful dark pink color and is now very pale. Do you think I'm doing something wrong? Could anyone keep it in very intense colors?

    Thank you

    Best regards,
    Ani

  • What type of Tillandsia is she?

I’m a total beginner to air plants and was wondering if anyone could identify exactly what type of tillandsia I have. Google Lens told me she’s a Kolbii but I’m not so sure and don’t have a clue what I’m looking at to be honest. She’s got a pup on board so I think she’s happy enough! She’s a bit bigger than this now and has had her leaves pruned a little.

I live in the UK would love some recommendations too for reputable places to buy some more!

    Thank you 🪷

  • What is on my oregano

It looks like a pest of some kind? But I can’t figure out exactly what. Frustrating because I definitely don’t want to cook with it until I fix it. Help!

Water once a week, drainage pot, 6ish hours of full sun a day.

  • What is causing these patches?

    USA Zone 8A
My yard is a little lumpy in this area, so my first thought was my mower possibly scalping these spots.
Should I raise my cut height or is there something deeper going on?

  • Help Extending Patio

I've never done anything like this before, but I would like to DIY and extend my "patio" here.

Is there any suggestions on how I could go about starting this?
I plan to lay out an outdoor rug that's roughly the same size of this area or put down some deck tiles. I just need to figure out how I should properly level out this area so it the same height.
