Rate my First year Garden Location South Seattle Everything planted from starts June 1 Killed all the grass last September Tilled top soil in March (only 3-4 inches to preserve deeper root paths) Added 3 yards of Soil mix from local supplier (Tina's Mix is a blend of CG compost, Moodoo, Mycorrhizae, aged hemlock, peat moss, and perlite.) Topped it off with mulch (RED-AUBURN BARK A blend of ground fir and hemlock that provides an even coverage, a fresh appearance, and an earthy aroma.) Regular timed watering from sprinkler 5am / 6pm. (I looked into drip irrigation but ultimately cheaped out and bought a sprinkler.) Mixed up 3 gallons of miracle grow plant food and used my sprayer setup to distribute to the entire garden. Finally Found a Frydek Found it at Publix Grocer after seeing a tiktoker mention it. She's HUGE (at least compared to my tissue vulture) and as expected within less than 24hrs of bringing her home she has a brown spot 😅 I'm itching to repot her now because she has two pups but I'll let her get comfy first. What to do with water-logged backyard Backstory, I removed grass in the back half of our yard to try and build a mulched playground for the kids. But once the first rain fell after removing the grass, it became an absolute flood zone, which never happened when the grass was still there. Grass dying around tree I live in Dayton, Ohio. Grass is turning yellow and growth is stunted around a tree in my front yard. It starts at the canopy edge and extends outward.
