Heat Wave Coming Northeast
Quick afternoon wet mow in before the heat wave kicks off Sunday and well into next week. Here’s some tips to keep your lawn healthy during the stress.
1. Monitor your moisture daily, mornings and late afternoons are your watering windows. Don’t just set it and forget it as overwatering increases your risk of disease outbreak. Check your ET rates and water accordingly (I like 60% of daily ET)
2. I’d recommend putting down a good shot of K (potassium) this week to help your grass battle the heat and disease pressure. Know the type of potassium you’re using as some products can be hot and need to be watered in
3. Raise your height of cut and avoid mowing mid-day. A denser thicker lawn provides shade for the crown and keeps soil surface temps down.
4. Good time for a preventative fungicide application and or wetting agent.
