• Used to be a good lawn, now a soccer/football field for kids

Which I'm actually fine with, but I'd like to provide *some* care other than mowing, which really has no impact since the grass isn't growing high enough (other than those little dark green tufts). I have active 7 and 9 year old boys. Is there any hope for having a nice-looking lawn that the kids also run roughshod over? We’re in northern Illinois. I also just noticed the paper airplane on top of the garage. Great.

  • Request for help

Some of the tomatoes in my garden are having problems. The leaves are turning white and dying back. It is affecting plants in the shade and in full sun. Any suggestions on what I can do here?

  • Need Suggestions

I need some assistance trying to figure out what to do in my backyard. We just bought the house recently (midwest home) and I'm finally getting to the yard now that it's warmed up.

I'm not sure what to do with the boxed-in areas to the right. The home was owned by an elderly lady who couldn't keep up with it, so I had to cut out a ton of old overgrown bushy trees. Now I'm left with this. I think mulch would look good, but it's about 82cbft, and I don't really feel like buying that much mulch every year. Not sure if rock is practical because of how it slopes down to my sidewalk. I'm not a gardener, and I'm not huge on flowers or vegetables as I don't have time (or patience) to keep up with it. I like a minimalist approach that looks sharp and clean.

What would you do if you were me?
