Weird grass growth. Crabgrass or Souther States Blend
Is it normal for a dormant/dead grass to be resurrected via tilling. My usual grass is a fescue, but about 15 years ago I overseeded with a Southern States Blend, sort of a soft, close-to-the-ground three-leaf grass. It was nice to mow but then started only coming out in the dry mid summer when the fescue went dormant. About 8 years ago the SS Blend no longer came out but it did live in the areas in the tree line. Long story short last fall I tilled up a plot to plant some veggies the following year. I threw in some crimson clover cover crop. In the spring I tilled again and then before planting tilled just the two sides. I Only have onions growing as the friendly local animal population ate my peppers. The middle grew a lot of grass which looks to me to be the SS blend, but my phone app thinks it's crabgrass or Japanese Siltgrass.
