New Lawn - Health Check
Hello All,
First time poster looking for a little bit of noob advice. Zone 10 / So Cal.
Background: First time homeowner and first-time lawn caretaker. When we moved into our new home our back yard grass was in pretty bad shape, so we had the irrigation system overhauled and installed new sod (Fescue/KBG Mix). The grass has been in for about 4 weeks now and I’m not sure if it looks normal / bad / good / etc. as I have zero experience with this. The grass is noticeably more yellow than when it was first installed but I'm not sure if that's normal.
I’ve been following the installers directions up to this point but was curious if I should be doing something different and/or what I should be doing next. In week 1, I watered every day – 3x a day. Week 2, I watered every day – 2x a day. And since week 3 I’ve been watering every other day for 20 mins in the AM. The grass was cut during week 3 and the installer told me to put down Scott’s Weed and Feed after the mowing which I did with the Scott’s Wizz spreader. After putting down the weed and feed I immediately watered it in for 20 mins.
It’s been about a week now since I laid down the fertilizer and was wondering how my grass looks (it was mowed again yesterday). Any feedback, advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!
