How to kill *some* ivy Please don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger. My wife likes the way the ivy on this tree looks, but doesn't like the ivy bed at the tree's foot (it's unruly and overrun by grass). At her suggestion, I put mulch over the bed, which the ivy and grass got through in a matter of days. My question: if I treat the stuff poking above the mulch with spectracide, will it kill the ivy above it on the tree?
