Fisker lost the battle too some Spotted knapweed
Apparently in my little armpit of Washington Spotted Knapweed is a Noxious weed that I can get fined for if I don't deal with it.. unfortunately I didn't realize just how quickly it spreads and doubly unfortunately right up the road is a very large over grown patch of it just spreading all it's nasty seed everywhere.
I had seen the Fisker weed puller on here and decided to give it a shot, the first time I used it went ok it got the medium to large weeds out but the small ones just slip through, the second time though, one large bunch of this stuff broke the plastic. Turns out the heavy duty they claim isn't the heavy duty I apply to stuff. I'm not sure if there is an all metal one on the market but I guess I'll be looking for a different weed puller.
In the meantime, does anyone have any slick methods of getting rid of this crap? It's mostly on an easement between a sidewalk and the street which I'm responsible for keeping cleaned up. The last resort would be bombing the area with a weed and grass killer, I would like to get some grass to grow eventually but this stuff will eat it alive. I can spot treat I guess but there's a ton of little spots.
Additionally when fall and winter come around is there something I should put down to prevent this from coming back next spring? Thanks!
