New house trash yard recovery plan. Please help

In Michigan. I have a new home with lots of trees. Previous owners didnt rake or mulch for about 2 years from what neighbors said. I just fixed our irrigation system that's on a well so regular watering wont be an issue. Id say its 20-30% grass, 40% clover/broadleaf weeds and the rest dirt patches. I know the plan should be get rid of weeds in the spring and seed in the fall. Is there anything I can do now? Or do I just wait til fall for topsoil and over seeding? Can i seed now if im planningvon leveling all the divots made by the standinf leaves? I really don't mind burning money on seed if it will speed up the recovery process of the yard if some will take. My issue is I don't want to waste the time if its basically useless. Thanks in advance!
Photo is my front lawn my side lot is much bigger and less leveled..
