  • Browning stem on philodendron Brazil

Hi! Any idea why this one stem is turning brown on my philodendron Brazil? It looks like it’s drying up. The leaf on the end is also a little yellowish and lighter color compared to the others. It’s been like that since I got this plant, but the stem browning/drying is a new thing. It looks like it’s spreading so I was wondering if the plant would benefit from me cutting it off?

The plant is right on a south facing window so it doesn’t get straight sunlight but there’s like 8+ hours of daylight. I water the plant regularly, once a week. The rest of the leaves and stems are doing fine and the plant has even been growing some new leaves closer to the root.

    Thanks!

  • Advice on nepenthes

I recently ordered a Nepenthes Sanguinea that was shipped to me from an online store. when i received it, half of the plant had rotted off so i thought it had died, but i places the good half in a perlite/sphagnum moss blend to see if it'll survive.

Fast forward 3-4 weeks and it appears to be alive but not growing at all under 14hrs of artificial light. The pitchers are so tiny i cant really drop flies into them to give it a feed.

Do i just need to be patient?

I should add its winter in Melbourne so ambient temp indoors is minimum 10deg to 23 deg when we havr the heating on. not sure if the temp is affecting the growth.

  • Can I still salvage this poor plant?

She's a creeping fig. I had her for about 2 weeks before she turned this way.

I watered once during the two weeks. Now I water her once the moisture level goes below 60%.

She's kept in a shaded area on a south facing balcony. No direct sunlight but gets about 12 hours of daylight.

  • This is Lulu. Her petals keep drying up and falling off. How can we help her?

We brought her home a few months ago and we've given her water every every couple of weeks. We keep her indoors and give as much indirect sunshine as we can. Although the window just faces another building. We also take her outside a few times a week for around 4 hours at a time. Please help us save Lulu.

  • What's wrong with my Grandad's cactus?

I repotted it recently using worm castings, pumice, cactus soil and small amount of compost soil. Haven't been too great with feeding, so could be lack of nutrition... I've fixed that now, it had it's first feeding of the year last week.

Maybe too much sun, underwatering? It's on a south facing window, in pretty direct sun light. I water using tap water when the soil completely dries out. Help would be much appreciated, it was my Grandads plant who passed, and I don't want it to die... A few of the cactuses have already died. It was in the wrong soil though in indirect light. 🫢 Since moving into direct light, they've been getting crispy at the top.
