  • My succulent is abloom

I love this plant. She is about six years old at this point, recently repotted, and seemingly loving her life right now. Bonus points if you can tell me the species since the apps are not particularly helpful. Cheers!

  • My Prayer Plant is a Year and a Half Old.

I got into houseplants about two years ago and this maranta was my third plant ever. I randomly picked it up because oooooo pretty, when I started reading that they were hard to care for I started to get scared. But here we are surviving!

  • Pink saltbush leaf?

I saw this in a salt marsh on the Massachusetts shore June 14th. I think it's creeping saltbush, but what is the pink on the leaves? Is that just low chlorophyll leaves or something or is it a fungus?

  • 2 years of trying to grow edamame...

I have gone through about 30 seeds. Only about 10 successful sprouts, of those- all look like this right now, browning, wimpy and barely any leaves. i have tried several different soils, fertilizer levels, watering levels, sun amounts etc. And none seem to be thriving... Could this be a genetics thing with the seeds I was trying or are they actually this difficult to grow?! Or do they stay this small for months and then grow massive after a while??

  • What am I doing wrong?

I just got this medusa air plant last week. I watered it and put it in the window. Well the leaves started turning black so I took it out of the window and put it under a grow light with some other plants and still the leaves are turning black. I'm new to these plants and I could use some help. Tia

  • Need ideas for low-maintenance xeriscape area in front yard (Denver, CO)

Looking for ideas on what to do with the area in front of my house (circled in red in the photo). It currently has messy crushed granite. My neighbor replaced theirs with river rock, which looks decent and I’m not totally against, but it’s not my favorite—I’d prefer to avoid more rock if possible. Also not interested in astroturf.

I’m going for a xeriscape vibe—low maintenance, drought-tolerant, and ideally no irrigation needed. We’re just outside of Denver, CO, and the rest of our landscaping focuses on native plants and pollinator habitat.

This spot gets full sun in the morning and afternoon and sees no foot traffic at all. I recently used decomposed granite (DG) in some backyard areas, which could work here too, but since this is the front of the house, I’d love something with more visual impact. Not really into using mulch either.

Just putting this out there to see what creative or alternative ideas folks might have—would love to hear what you’d do with a space like this!

  • Why is it wrinkled like that

So I’ve had this rattlesnake calathea for about two months now and she’s done great! Some browning here and there from trying to give her sufficient light but not direct light (so confusing) but I noticed this wrinkle with some of my older foliage on her. Is this particularly indicative of anything? I repotted her about a week and a half ago and I haven’t really had any signs of shock on her. Also I promise the photo isn’t filtered idk why it came out so majestic looking lol. I try to mist her in a grouping with my two peppermonias and my Dottie calathea about once a day or so to provide sufficient humidity and I keep her away from the draft caused by my ceiling fan. Any tips appreciated!

    Other facts if this helps
•I live out in the woods with a huge holly bush in front of my window so my room is mostly indirect/low light
•it is a south west facing window so it does get some direct sunlight but I WFH so I tend to adjust them and set them on lap desks on my bed so keep them in indirect light during the early evening
•my rattlesnake calathea was repotted from a 5inch pot to a 6 inch pot with miracle gro cactus/succulent whatever mix but also mixed it with her original soil (just what I had accessible for the time being)
•we water about once every week/week and a half, typically try to bottom water but I do use a moisture meter and check with my finger and a chopstick to see what the level is before watering
•we do use well water at my house but she seems to have been doing fine with it
•she’s in a house with a dog and two cats so I try to regularly dust off all the leaves and keep them from eating her foliage but ofc sometimes this happens and when it does and they take a big enough chunk we snip the leaves all-together.

  • Besides potting up, what should I do about this leaning plant?

    Also, what is it?
