  • Help Needed Calibrating NorthStar Boom Sprayer for Target 6 Application

    Hello everyone,

I’m in Augusta Georgia, with a Bermuda yard full of both goose grass and crab grass hoping someone can assist me with eliminating. I’m trying to determine the correct settings for a 31-gallon NorthStar boom sprayer with variable PSI control that I recently purchased. I want to make sure I’m mixing and applying the Target 6 herbicide at the proper rate.

According to the product label, Target 6 should be mixed at 1 to 2 ounces per gallon, and the application rate should be 2.5 gallons per 1,000 square feet.

Using Google Maps, I measured the area to be sprayed and it’s approximately 1.5 acres.

I’ve attached the spray calibration table I’ve been using to try and determine the appropriate PSI and travel speed settings, but I’ve had trouble working out the correct values to achieve the recommended application rate.

If anyone has experience with boom sprayers or can help interpret the chart, your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you in advance!

  • Can I mulch around my saplings w/ clippings?

I ran out of budget for mulch. Today, as I was trimming back some of the low-hanging branches on my mature ash trees, it occurred to me that this might suffice as cover.

Will this work? Will it kinda work as long as I \_\_?

(I don't have access to a chipper/shredder as I'm sure that would be more ideal.)

  • Xmas cactus struggling after repot

It’s a bit droopy. Not sure if it needs to dry out completely or if it needs water or if it needs something else.

It is in a gritty mix now.

    Outdoor sun.

What should I do to help it?

  • Backyard with 35 degree slope. Any options?

We live in Los Angeles county.

Our backyard is relatively large (for LA), but the vast majority of it is on a downward slope. The slope is about 35 degrees. Is there any way to make this space more usable?

We know whatever we do it'll be expensive. We're just trying to understand what is technically feasible and allowed by the county and things maybe we have considered as an option, before worrying about costs.

We also know we have to replace the deck at some point, as it wasn't built great and will eventually fail.

A few things we've thought about, but don't know if it would actually make the space more usable:

    * Tiers with retaining walls (may not work, given how steep the slope is)
    * Extending the deck. It can only jet outward another 5 feet before it becomes 15 feet passed the setback (which is the limit in LA)
    * A retaining wall at the bottom to make the bottom space flat. Not great since requires going down the steps to get to usable area.
    * Some combination of multiple things?

    Thanks!

  • Minimum base layer thickness on compacted fill dirt for paver installation ?

Retaining wall installed last year to level ground around pool. Fill dirt well compacted. No issues with water drainage or erosion from very heavy rain showers this past year.

For this type of base, what is minimum base layer and thickness recommended

Need to know roughly how much to lower the fill. Thanks
