• My first flower!

A little background, this year I've made it my mission to actually take care of the yard. Weeding, cutting the grass, cleaning up the debri and leaves, making flower beds and hopefully a vegetable garden.

So my mom being the "master" gardener she gave be a bunch of flowers. Hostas, iris's, hollyhocks, asparagus, cutleaf coneflower, sweet William, Lilly's, a poppy and a couple others I can't remember the names. I took them home and basically had 20 little plants I had to scatter all over the front and backyard and over the past week and a half I've tried to water them everyday but I missed maybe 2 days (not in a row) of watering and I think my plants let me know they didn't like that!

Anyways! Yesterday I was out checking out my plants and I saw this! I was so excited!! He may be on the ground a bit but we have a beautiful flower!!! I also don't know what all the flower colours are so I'm excited to find that out!

If you want to see the rest of my gardens I can post photos :)

  • How do I get this stump out?

I’ve been shoveling around it and cutting roots for multiple hours and days. It’s close to utility stuff so my tree guy wouldn’t grind it out. Is there a better way than what I’m doing? It’s taking forever and it sucks. Also, how deep do I need to go? I have a 6’ digger tool which I was hoping I could pry it out but this seems impossible.

  • My Crassula ovata Gollum

I guess the pot isn’t the correct size, but it’s the only one I had at home atm.

  • 227 days ago I posted about transforming my hellstrip for my wife for Mother’s Day. Well, we got a little sidetracked but I started the solarization process yesterday. We’ll be stripping the grass and planting our native garden in mid-July.

I’ll try and head off the comments about nOt BeInG aLlOwEd To Do ThAt but it’s pretty much a guarantee that so many people will chime in with incorrect advice. I spoke directly with our towns planning department and was told that they have no regulations other than maintaining visibility.

  • What is happening to my strawberries?

I have hydroponic strawberries going and I wake up and the ripe berry has what looks like a bite taken out of it? They’re inside and it looked fine last night. This happened to the last berry that ripened. Not sure if squirrels are smart enough to find their way inside, take a single bite, and leave? Or if it’s a bug? Any and all insight is appreciated, I’m crashing out rn
