  • Grass yellowing

I've recently noticed that I have several spots in my lawn that are starting to yellow. What could be causing this? I'm in the PNW and water my lawn every 3-4 days. Is this normal or do I need to do something to prevent this?

  • Story as old as time: Planted a "bell pepper", something not a bell pepper came up. Help a girl figure out what it is?

Title pretty much says it all. In the spring I bought a seed mix labeled as a "carnival blend" of bell peppers. I knew I was getting into a blend of random seeds but this one was a pleasant surprise! I'm new to pepper gardening so my plant id is lacking and google lens searches had inconclusive results. Can someone help me id my pepper or is it too early to tell?

  • Powdery Mildew?

Hello! I've had this Donkey Tail for a week and it started growing this fuzzy white layer. Is it powdery mildew?

There's also a bunch of super tiny flies hanging around, which surprised me because I've kept my window closed. This was a gift from a friend so any advice on keeping it alive and pest- and fungus-free would be appreciated. Thank you so much

  • Where do I start?

    Pacific Northwest

About to move into a new rental property. We have 3 young kids who spend most of their time playing in the backyard so having a usable lawn in important to us.

The landlord claims "This type of grass is really a winter/fall variety that only needs to be manually watered a few weeks of the year. And it was green just a few weeks ago"

I call bullshit on most of that, but whatever. The current lawn feels like straw, and not dormant but dead. Is any of this really coming back? What's my best next step? I'm an experienced lawn care DIY'er and have all the tools (spreader, gas edger/rototiller, backpack sprayer, etc)

My instinct is to get new seed down, and was considering just roto-tilling the hell out of it and then overseeding and watering. Summers are more mild here so I think I can get away with it.

    Any other ideas or advice?
