I'm fighting a losing battle, how do I save this rubber plant?
Thjs American rubber plant is about 3 years old. There's actually two in the pot. Started off strong, had a phase where it lost a lot of leaves, but it bounced back. Recently it has just not grown at all. Not a new leaf in a year? The underside of many of the leaves have this mottled brown colour.
It was in a full shade window (north facing, maybe an hour of direct sun in the morning) so I moved it to a sunnier spot (east facing, 4hrs of direct sun in the morning) and this is a warmer room as it's the washer drier room. Repotted it to check the roots and the roots look quite strong, to my inexperienced eyes at least. Normal potting soil.
Advice I read said to really let it dry out before watering. Wait until the leaves turn papery. I did this but instead of going papery, 3 leaves went brown and fell off? On one of the plants, the stem looks shrivelled.
It for about 6 months has tiny little green spikes where new growth would be, but they never grow into anything larger. After a few months some will go brown and fall off. New ones then form.
What am I doing wrong?!
