Hawortia started wilting

Context: I've gotten this hawortia 4-ish years ago, the previous owner took care of it for around 20 years, so it's old. It's been in the same spot for the last two years, and did very well up until a couple of weeks ago when some of the plant's stalks started to wilt.

My first thought was a watering issue, but I want to be really careful not to overwater since I know how easily overwatering can kill the whole plant. That combined with the fact that it's been in the same place for two years and same-ish watering schedule, I'm not sure it actually \_is\_ the problem.

But what else could it be? Maybe the plant is getting too old? Maybe something else? As far as I can tell, there are no pests, and there haven't been any recent changes in sunlight. Some of the stalks also seem very healthy still.

Anyway, I would love some input. This is one of my most treasured plants and I'd hate for it to die.
