Why isn’t Japanese Camelia used more? Full shade, beautiful foliage, gorgeous and insanely early flower, medium size and slow growing. What’s not to love? For the purpose they serve I’m surprised I don’t see them as often as Rhododendron, Andromeda, and similar broadleaf evergreens. Before I start incorporating more of these into my design work, Is there a reason they’re not more common? Any common issues with them? Zone 6/7 ny/ct.
