Rose buds started wilting I bought this rose about 3 weeks ago for my gf and the buds have started wilting before flowering. The stems going to the buds are black almost like they’ve been burned. Beginning Ivy Removal, Zone 9b East Bay Central CA Entire front garden is covered in ivy, which I know some people like as a ground cover but I hate because - what's in there? It's not native to my area, Zone 9b in the East Bay of California. Would welcome suggestions of what to place here with a fighting chance of surviving. It gets limited dappled shade early morning and late afternoon, is hot and dry all summer, wet and freezing temps in the winter, no irrigation though I think (?) I could dig under the fence and run some drip irrigation to it, though I'd prefer to water as little as possible. I need to avoid anything toxic to animals or children.
