First day of the strawberry harvest!
Amd what a great first day it is! We picked about 5 pounds from the backyard garden this evening. We've been growing organically and lost most of our crop last year to just about every known creature that runs, hops, flies, or crawls. A few preventative measures and one year later, and these 5 pounds are more than we got in total last year! I'm sure we will still end up sharing some of the ripening berries with our wild friends, but tonight gives me hope that there might be some jams and pies in our future to share with our human friends, too!
